WHAT TO EXPECT

When preparing for your visit to Cherish it is beneficial to the child to explain to them that someone will talk with them about what was reported. It is extremely important not to tell the child what to say. Let them know they are in a safe place and not in any trouble with the person they will talk with. Alleged perpetrators are not allowed on Cherish property. Only the non-offending parent or caregiver should be present at Cherish with the child. There is no cost to the families who visit us.

Before You Arrive

Interviews done at Cherish are based on referrals from the Department of Child Services or Law Enforcement only. If you suspect abuse has occurred, please call 1-800-800-5556.

Finding Our Building

WHAT TO EXPECT

When You Arrive

We are located at 701 Congressional Blvd, suite 240 A, in Carmel. This is a multi-tenant office building housing several businesses. When you arrive drive directly to the back of the building, where you will see a large grassy area. Our suite is located on the far right side of the building. There is available parking in front of and around our suite. If you have trouble finding our building please contact us using the information below and a staff member will assist you.

Our Space

Our office is a child-friendly environment that provides a neutral, safe place for children and their families.

When You Arrive

Our building remains locked 24/7 for the safety and security of our staff and the families that visit us. When you arrive at Cherish our receptionist will buzz you in and be at the front desk to greet you, show you our waiting area, and provide you with paperwork. Your Family Advocate will then meet with you and answer any questions you may have about the interview process.

WHAT TO EXPECT

To maintain the integrity of the investigative process, no one will be in the room with the child, other than the interviewer. The interviewer will have a one-on-one conversation with the child, that is developmentally appropriate and avoids leading or suggestive questions. While the child is talking with the interviewer, the non-offending caregiver will be in the waiting area talking to a Family Advocate.

During the Interview

WHAT TO EXPECT

Following the interview, the team may meet with the non-offending caregiver regarding the next steps. A Family Advocate will wait with the child and let them add a heart to our heart wall and pick a comfort item to take home. After the visit, a Family Advocate will follow up with the non-offending caregiver regarding additional services discussed during the visit.
